about
An old friend made a Facebook post about heading to Melbourne in the 1970s to become a folk singer and sing Bob Dylan songs. That image sparked this song. It was always my plan that this would be sung with my gorgeous friends Abby & Sophie. We had a hoot doing this together in one hilarious take.
lyrics
Folk Singer
I’m going to Melbourne
Gonna be a folk singer
I’m going to Melbourne
Gonna be a folk singer
I’m going to Melbourne
Gonna be a folk singer
Gonna grow my hair and listen to Dylan
Melbourne, folk singing, long haired, Dylan loving girl.
I’m going to Nashville
To write a country song
I’m going to Nashville
To write a country song
I’m going to Nashville
To write a country song
Gonna break my heart and sing about it all day long
Nashville, songwriting, broken-hearted, singing ‘bout it girl
I’m still a Melbourne, folk singing, long haired, Dylan loving girl.
I’m gonna be married
To the one I love
I’m gonna be married
To the one I love
I’m gonna be married
To the one I love
Gonna be my honey and I’ll be his turtle dove
Married, one that I love, be my honey, turtle dove girl
Gonna ride my pony
Every day
Gonna ride my pony
Every day
Gonna ride my pony
Every day
Gonna call him sugar and feed him the sweetest hay
Pony, every day, call him sugar, sweetest hay girl,
I’m gonna be married, one that I love, be his honey, turtle dove girl
Melbourne, Nashville, married, pony
Folk singing, songwriting, one I love
Long haired, broken hearted, be my honey, one and only
Dylan loving every day, turtle dove
I’m going to heaven
At the end of the line
I’m going to heaven
At the end of the line
I’m going to heaven
At the end of the line
Gonna learn that trick about changing water into wine
Heaven, end of the line, turn that water into wine girl
And I’m still a Melbourne, folk singing, long haired, Dylan loving girl
